Detail is a proudly independent family run business in Ambleside, the heart of The Lake District selling a carefully curated selection of great quality gifts including homewares, stationery, cards, jewellery and Jellycat!

Heidi established the business in 2011 with a passion to provide the Best of British gifts, homeware and stationery. Now her daughter Wren has taken on the running of the business after many years working together. Detail is flourishing and has a dedicated local following as well as visitors both national and international.

We pride ourselves on having a friendly and happy environment in which to find unusual, characterful and eco-friendly products for sharing, giving or even to hold onto for yourself. In recent years we have promoted considered buying and moved towards more environmentally conscious products which has been welcomed and respected by our customers and community.

Retail can be a difficult business to be in, full of complex ethical dilemmas. In response to this we are trying to reduce consumption and waste and encourage our customers to buy with longevity in mind; buy with consideration to keep, to love and to treasure.
